Meet Finca La Esperanza, our newest partner farm
Three generations, 1,800 meters up in Huila, and the sweetest washed Caturra we've ever cupped.
Neighborhood & good coffee
Since 2016 we've poured our hearts (and a lot of espresso) into being Portland's warmest corner — a place where good coffee, friendly faces, and thoughtful details create space for connection.
How it started
Ember & Oak started as a coffee cart on Oak Street in 2016 — two friends, a secondhand espresso machine, and Juniper, the leaping shop dog you'll still find on our cups. Nine years later we roast our own beans, bake our own pastries, and run three cafés within walking distance of each other.
The idea never changed: coffee should bring people together. Everything else — the small-batch roasting, the handwritten stickers, the free dog treats — grew from that.
Sourced with care
We buy directly from twelve farms across Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala, paying 40–60% above fair-trade minimums. Every bag is roasted in small batches at our Oak Street roastery, never more than a week before it hits the bar.
